In Fairtrade, miners must put a Child Protection Policy in place and work to prevent child labour. Only mines that do not use child labour can be Fairtrade Certified.

Fairtrade does not certify mines that contribute to conflict and human rights abuses.

Fairtrade Gold can be traced direct from the mine through to your piece of jewellery carrying the Fairtrade Gold Stamp.

Fairtrade Standards restrict the use of mercury and other chemicals. Fairtrade Certified miners follow local laws which protect the environment, and are required to restore mine sites.
